I NEVER RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION EMAIL, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you haven't received an order confirmation email, it is likely the result of one or two things:

      • Your order was never actually placed and processed.
      • You have entered an incorrect email address with your order

If you are certain that the email address linked to your order is correct, please check the spam folder in your mailing client for your order confirmation. In the event that you still cannot locate an order confirmation, please email or call our customer service department:

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?

Non-RX sunglasses typically ship in 1-5 business days (Mon-Fri).  RX eyewear ships in 5-10 business days (Mon-Fri) due to the additional time needed to create and fit the custom prescription lenses. All of our sunglasses are handmade from scratch in our own shop, so it can sometimes be challenging to keep up with the high demand for our product. Please know that we are doing the best we can to get orders out promptly.

To review your order status, login to your Shwood account. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know and we will do everything we can to help you with your order.

    2. Shipping / 02

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ORDER HAS SHIPPED? CAN I TRACK IT?

Once your order ships, you will receive an email containing your tracking number. If for any reason you have not received your shipping confirmation email and your order date is past 5 business days (Sun) or 10 business days (Rx), please let us know by emailing info@shwoodshop.com. We will be happy to find out what exactly is going on with your order.

    3. Shipping / 03

WHO PAYS FOR INTERNATIONAL IMPORT TAXES?

International orders may be subject to import duties and taxes on receipt of the package in the destination country. 1. Rx / 01

I noticed that you offer wooden frames in your sunglass Collection as well as in your Rx Collection. Is there a difference?

Nice catch! There is, indeed, a difference between the two. Our Rx “All-Wood” models include our patent-pending “Super-Groove”. This adds extra strength and stability that is necessary for Prescription lenses, as each pair of lenses may be a different size.

Please do not attempt to put prescription lenses in your Shwood Original or Select frames, as they will likely break and we will not be able to offer warranty services on them.

    2. Rx / 02

What information do I need to order prescription Shwood eyeglasses?

You will need a valid and non-expired prescription or your doctor’s contact information. You will also need to know your pupillary distance (PD) which is not always noted on prescriptions. The PD is the distance between your pupils measured in millimeters. Your doctor should have that information on file. Your local optical shop should also be able to measure your PD for you for a small fee. You can even measure your PD yourself by following the instructions found while entering your prescription information during checkout.

    3. Rx / 03

I’m not sure what my prescription is or how to fill out the online form. How can I order?

You have a few different options if you are unsure what your prescription is:

If you are able to locate your prescription, you may take a picture or photocopy of it and send it in along with your order. We can, at that point enter your information into the order form for you.

If you cannot locate your prescription, you can still complete your order and give us the rest of the required information at a later time. This way we can start working on your frame right away.

If you are unable to locate your prescription, you can opt for our “call my doctor” option. We will get in touch with your doctor and retrieve your prescription for you. Please note that this option will take additional time.

    4. Rx / 04

What type of lenses do you offer?

We, currently, only offer Single Vision lenses (SV).

Most likely, your doctor has recommended a certain type lens and we encourage you to listen to your doctor! When ordering your Shwood eyeglasses you will, however, have the following lens options:

      • SV Polycarbonate
      • SV High Index
      • SV Sun Polycarbonate (Polarized)
      • SV Sun High Index (Polarized)

In addition, you can add Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating to you lens selection. We strongly encourage choosing our anti-reflective coating if your prescription is stronger than +/- 2.00 in at least one eye.

Those are a lot of options! What the difference between them all?

We have two different materials to choose from and each type has their own advantages.

      • Polycarbonate is very impact resistant and is your least expensive option.
      • High Index is a material that is thinner and lighter than Polycarbonate. This helps avoid the "Coke-bottle lens" effect with stronger prescriptions. We recommend HI lenses if your sphere value exceeds -4.00 or +2.00 or the combined sphere and cylinder value exceeds -4.00 or +2.00.
    5. Rx / 05

Is there a limit on prescription strength?

Depending on model, the limit on prescription strength is as follows:

      Wood Frames:

      Sphere: -6.00 to +3.00

      Cylinder (Astigmatism): -2.00 to +2.00

      Axis: 1 to 180

      PD (Pupillary distance): 50-75

The combined sphere and cylinder powers should not be over -6.00

      Acetate & Titanium Frames:

      Sphere: -8.00 to +4.00

      Cylinder (Astigmatism): -2.00 to +2.00

      Axis: 1 to 180

      PD (Pupillary distance): 50-75

The combined sphere and cylinder powers should not be over -8.00

    6. Rx / 06

      Do you offer reading glasses?

We do offer all of our Rx frames with reading lenses in the following strengths:

      • +1.00
      • +1.50
      • +2.00
      • +2.50
      • +3.00

To purchase reading glasses, select "Rx" lenses on an Rx product page. When you click "Add Prescription, you will be presented with the option to select "Reading" lenses.

    7. Rx / 07

How do I measure my PD?

"PD" stand for Pupillary Distance and is a required measurement when making eyeglasses. If your prescription does not indicate the PD measurement, you can measure it yourself with a millimeter ruler.  Follow these simple steps:

1.) Rest a mm ruler on the bridge of your nose just in front of your eyes. Look straight ahead and line up the 0mm marker with the center or one pupil.

2.) Read the ruler in a mirror, or have someone at the same height as you read it.

3.) The mark that lands in the center of the other eye is your Pupillary Distance.

4.) Repeat these steps 2-3 times to make sure your results are accurate.

  2. Returns / Exchanges / 01

If I don’t like my Shwood glasses, can I return or exchange them?

Sure thing!  We try to keep returns and exchanges as simple as possible. As long as they meet our criteria, it should be no problem at all to return or exchange them.

Please note that our Return/Exchange policy is different for Sun and Rx eyewear, respectively. Here's what you should know:

    Sun (non-RX) Eyewear Returns/Exchanges:

    • Returns must be in brand new condition, with original packaging and proof of purchase.
    • Returns must be postmarked for return within 30 days of the original delivery to you.

    RX Eyewear Returns/Exchanges:

    • Returns must be in brand new condition, with original packaging and proof of purchase.
    • Returns must be postmarked for return within 7 days of the original delivery to you.
    • Please understand that your prescription lenses are custom made just for you so a $40 re-stocking fee will be deducted from your refund to cover associated costs. This fee does not apply to "Frame Only" purchases.

To obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number please submit a return/exchange request using the following link:

If your Shwood glasses have a manufacturer defect, we will, of course, repair or replace them for you at no cost.

If you are unsure if your desired model will fit, please have a look at our sizing guide, on our website, first. We also try to have as many pictures of each model as possible to give you a better idea of what they look like. You may also order your Shwood glasses without lenses if you are unsure of them.

    1. Product Information / 01

HOW SHOULD I TAKE CARE OF MY SHWOOD GLASSES?

All Shwood eyewear is treated with Shwood's secret blend of non-allergenic, organic waxes and oils and sealed with with light shellac finish. This protective coating helps the wood maintain a proper moisture balance needed to prevent drying out and/or cracking while also helping to repel water. It is recommended that you re-apply this coating to protect your glasses from damage anytime they begin to look lighter or feel dryer. Regular application should help protect against most cracks and significantly improve the look and durability of the wood. Recommended coatings include beeswax, lip-balm, butcher block oil, or walnut oil.

For daily care, it is recommended that Shwood eyewear is constantly kept in a safe place. All Shwood eyewear should be treated as "wearable art." Do not store glasses in your pocket, backpack, hanging from your shirt, etc. If you are not wearing them, keep them in a hard case or safe place.

    2. Product Information / 02

      DO SHWOOD GLASSES FLOAT?

As each pair of Shwood sunglasses is unique and wood density and buoyancy will vary from pair to pair, we cannot guarantee that all Shwood glasses will float.

    3. Product Information / 03

      ARE SHWOOD GLASSES WATERPROOF?

Through our proprietary finishing techniques, Shwood glasses are water-resistant and will not be affected by sweat or other small amounts of water. Excessive water exposure, including - but not limited to - submersion, may cause glasses to warp.

    4. Product Information / 04

WILL MY GLASSES LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE PHOTO?

Please understand that no two pieces of wood are identical. Therefore, no two pairs of Shwood wooden sunglasses will be exactly alike. Product photos on this website should be used solely as a guide to what a product will resemble, not as an exact representation. Minute differences should be expected in each product’s construction, as minor deviations are inherent to Shwood’s handcrafted manufacturing process. Fortunately, Shwood’s one-by-one product construction guarantees individual attention to detail and quality assurance in every pair of eyewear to leave the wood shop.

    5. Product Information / 05

DO YOU USE SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS TO MAKE YOUR SUNGLASSES?

All Shwood sunglasses are hand crafted in our Portland, OR wood shop. We take great pride in purchasing our wood from authorized and supervised plantations across the globe, while instituting daily operational policies directly targeted at minimizing our ecological footprint.

    6. Product Information / 06

      Do you offer prescription lenses?

Yes we do! We have worked hard to develop versions of our wood eyeglasses that can accept prescription lenses and withstand the abuse of everyday wear.

To shop for prescription eyewear, please click HERE.

Please do not attempt to put prescription lenses in your Shwood frames, as they may break and we will not be able to offer warranty services on them.

    7. Product Information / 07

What is the difference between polarized and regular lenses?

The standard grey CR-39 lenses are manufactured by Carl Zeiss and offer superior 100% UVA/UVB sun protection. Polarized lenses offer the increased benefit of glare reduction as well as 100% UVA/UVB protection. The difference can be seen in the Polarized lens’ glare reduction created by the sun's reflection off horizontal planes, such as on the hood of your car, the street, or water. While all of Shwood’s lens offerings are top of the line, Polarized will offer the highest level of safety and comfort.

    8. Product Information / 08

DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM SIZING OPTIONS?

At this point in time our manufacturing process does not allow for custom orders.
